From the 2024 President, Jack Witzenfeld
Fall……….my favorite time of the year. I enjoy the cooler weather, the changing colors of the leaves and the upcoming holidays. One of enjoyable things to do in mid-September is to go to North Myrtle Beach, SC for Fall Migration (SOS). SOS runs from September 12th to the 22nd and really is the party of the year.
For those shaggers that are new to our community, I would encourage you to go to the website shagdance.com. This is the official website of the Society of Stranders (SOS). There is a wealth of information about everything you wanted to know about the shag community but were afraid to ask. For a bit of specific information about Fall Migration, click on that button and read all about the 10-day party! Bands, events, parties and lessons will be offered daily. Navigating this website is easy and don’t forget to check out the SOS Carefree Times Newsletter. There is also a link that will provide you with information on which radio stations stream beach music.
It’s an absolute perfect time of the year to be in North Myrtle Beach and barring hurricanes, the weather is typically beautiful. The water is still warm so plan for pool and beach time. For those that golf, they have some of the best golf courses along the coast. Due to the large number of people that attend SOS, there will not be a Mix & Mingle on Wednesday, September 18th.
There will be a General Membership Meeting on Monday, September 9th at 6:30 pm at the Dance Club at DanceSportVA (where we hold our board meetings). Doors open at 6:15 pm and all members are invited to attend.
